As part of the Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency’s seven-site program, this site was acquired in 2018 with a 99-year lease from the City of Vancouver and funding support from BC Housing. It is located in the heart of the Davie Village, an historic centre for Vancouver’s LGBTQ community. McLaren Housing Society, an organization that works with low-income individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS, will manage the residences. We are also partnering with Qmunity to provide an LGBTQ community centre. There will be additional commercial units located on the ground floor. The building includes Passive House energy efficient design, and construction will employ cross-laminated timber technology, a pioneering use of high-rise wood residential construction in BC.
